Before you can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) you will need to get a skills assessment for your nominated occupation. The purpose of a skills assessment is check that your qualifications and experience meet the competency standards required in Australia.
We only accept skills assessments carried out by an authorised assessing authority. Each assessing authority has its own assessment procedures, timeframes and fees.
Skills assessments are required for the following visas:
- Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) — Points tested stream
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Depending on your occupation, your level of seniority and the state or territory you live in, you may also need to be registered or licensed to work legally in your field in Australia. The registering body is often different to the authorised assessing authority.

Information and Communications (ICT) sector
The Australian Computer Society is the authorised assessing authority for ICT professionals, including:
